Cool Things People Do

In 2009 I stopped watching TV news because I felt that it gave an overly negative perspective on reality. This year, I want to focus instead on positive events, changes and developments rather than get distracted by constant crime stories (which, let's face it - will NEVER END, and are frankly, quite boring).

So, I have started this blog to celebrate the positive and progressive things that people are doing right now. Cool things can involve: experiments, hobbies, films, science, charity, products, marketing, new policies, community initiatives, interior design, pranks and any other impressive things that catch my eye.

USA calling it quits on the War on Drugs →

“The “war”, declared unilaterally throughout the world by Richard Nixon in 1969, is expiring as its strategists start discarding plans that have proved futile over four decades…Prospects in the new decade are thus opening up for vast amounts of useless government expenditure being reassigned to the treatment of addicts instead of their capture and imprisonment.” - full article here.

What people don’t often consider is that the War on Drugs has ruined more lives than it has helped….

Man sues airway for sexual discrimination. →

“A businessman is suing British Airways over a policy that bans male passengers from sitting next to children they don’t know  -  even if the child’s parents are on the same flight.”

I hope he wins… I can’t believe discrimination against men has gone this far. How come it’s just men who can’t sit next to children?, how about adult female strangers too? Why don’t we just isolate all children in a bubble??
